The Angels acquired outfielder Randal Grichuk and first baseman C.J. Cron from the Rockies for two Minor League pitching prospects on Sunday.
Colorado, which is also sending around $2 million to the Angels, a source told MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand, gets back right-hander Jake Madden (the Angels’ No. 8 prospect) and left-hander Mason Albright (No. 28).
TRADE DETAILS

Originally drafted by the Angels with the 24th overall pick in 2009, Grichuk is slashing .308/.365/.496 with eight homers, 27 RBIs and 19 doubles in 64 games. Grichuk, who can play all three outfield positions and has been red-hot in July (1.137 OPS and six home runs in 15 games), will be a free agent at the end of the season.
Like Grichuk, Cron was also drafted by the Halos (17th overall in 2011) and spent his first four seasons in Anaheim. The slugging 10-year veteran is slashing .260/.304/.476 with 11 homers and 32 RBIs in 56 games. He has registered four seasons of 25 or more home runs. Cron, who signed a two-year, $14.5 million extension with the Rockies before the 2022 season, will also be a free agent after the season.
